Your GPNEMBA Perk: 10% Off at Gorham Bike & Ski đźš´

Radical rewards from our biggest shop champion<!–

Wow!

Did you get your deer fly helmet patch yet to fend off the “triangle bugs” as GPNEMBA member Erin Healey calls ’em? Did you get your GPNEMBA merch yet?? Have you cleared the jump line at Riverton that’s been torturing you (me) all summer since it opened? I hope so. It’s been an outstanding riding season so far in 2025, and we’re excited to announce an awesome offer for current (and current shortly after this email!) GPNEMBA members from our buds at Gorham Bike & Ski, a bevy of group rides, and a hyperbole-ridden hype reel for new trail projects starting in the area next month. Enjoy!

10% off for all GPNEMBA members at Gorham Bike & Ski!

Gorham Bike & Ski has been a foundational partner of GPNEMBA over the years, doing everything from running trailwork days and Bike & Brew events with us, running fundraisers in support of our trailwork, given away bikes, and bought us a new Snowdog groomer to maintain fat bike trails. As we are working to partner more closely with local bike shops, GBS is helping us give great benefits to current GPNEMBA members and help us gain new ones.

We’re excited to announce that all current GPNEMBA members are now eligible to receive 10% products, service, and event bikes at Gorham Bike & Ski! You can access this awesome benefit by doing the following:

  1. If you’re not already a GPNEMBA member, you can sign up here on the NEMBA site. Select “Greater Portland NEMBA” as your home chapter

  2. Search “NEMBA membership card” in your inbox. You should be able to pull up the following email:

  3. Click the “View the Card” link, which will take you to your official (GP)NEMBA membership card:

  4. Present this Active Member Card to any Gorham Bike & Ski employee at check out (deal is for in-person only).

As well, GBS is helping us to continue to grow our membership base so more riders are supporting the trailwork we do each and every week to work towards making Greater Portland a world-class riding community. Anyone who buys a mountain bike at the Portland Gorham Bike & Ski location worth more than $1,000 through this September will get a free first year GPNEMBA membership. Just mention this offer at time of purchase, or reference the hang tags that will be soon hanging from eligible bikes in the shop.

We are truly grateful to have a partner like Gorham Bike & Ski continuing to step up and support our work in meaningful ways. Make sure to say thank you next time you’re in the shop!

You will want not for a group ride, ye faithful

Stoked to pal up on a group ride? We’ve got you covered. We’ve got loads of rides coming up to get you and to bring the good people together across Greater Portland, and more added every week to our Eventbrite page:

  1. Tomorrow, Wednesday July 30th: Wednesday group ride @ Alden Hill/USM
  2. Sunday morning, August 3rd: Bikes & BBQ @ Hamblen Trails w/Ernie’s Bike Shop.
  3. Sunday evening, August 3rd: GPNEMBA Women’s Ride, Portland Trails
  4. Monday, August 4th: GPNEMBA Queer Ride @ Weeks/Moody’s
  5. Monday, August 18th: GPNEMBA Queer Ride @ Weeks/Moody’s
  6. Sunday, August 24th: GPNEMBA Women’s Ride @ Hamblen Trails

New trails incoming…

While we’re not 100% ready to share all our plans, we’re looking at adding some brand-new, professionally-built mountain bike-oriented trails to the Greater Portland area starting next month. All we can say for now is that an old classic is going to start a big facelift, some flow, berms, and airtime are coming to a neighborhood near you, and that all told, some of the best builders in the state will be helping bring more world-class riding to Greater Portland this summer and fall. And that’s on top of the “super skinny” and jump lines getting added to Lavoie Bike Park and Gorham, and the handbuilt Barred Behavior trail currently getting cut in in Portland’s Fore River Sanctuary.

Stay tuned… and thanks to supporter Derek Guimond for the photo above!
