Help Us Make World-Class MTB’ing in Greater Portland a Reality

Become a Greater Portland NEMBA member to make this dream a reality<!–

<<First Name>>,

It’s Ryan Dunfee — volunteer President of the Greater Portland Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association. If you’re getting this email, it’s because you are not an contributing member of GPNEMBA. I’d like to convince you to join us as a paying member in 2026 by explaining what exactly we’re doing with that money.

Following an incredible 2025 in which we were honored to be awarded NEMBA’s Chapter of the Year, your favorite mountain bike non-profit is hell bent on making this bike season the best ever for Greater Portland.

Some of the projects we’re working on for this season include:

  • Building a new flow trail in Fore River Sanctuary (Portland) along with a new XC trail, and revamping Riverton Bike Park to ride better and beeter.

  • Opening a new 2-mile XC trail (our longest ever!) and working to finish & open the first Max Southam & Mt. Abram Trails-built downhill trail in Lowell Preserve, and build the second downhill this fall.

  • Undertaking our first professional trail planning project to guide a sustainable and improved future for trails in N. Falmouth & Blackstrap Preserve.

  • Hosting more than 30 group rides throughout the season, including continuing our Women’s Ride Series, ride + BBQ’s, and a special GPNEMBA Day at Mt. Abram!

And this hardly captures it all. We’ve joined planning committees for the second phase of East Windham Conservation Area and for mountain bike trails in Portland city parks. We’re pushing for better trails at Bradbury State Park, and supporting new mountain bike advocates in southern Maine.

For me personally, the opportunity to do what we’re doing is a childhood dream come true. It’ll no longer be somewhere else, far away and out West, that I dream of riding. That’s why  I’m working everyday, along with hundreds of volunteers, with everything we have, to make this place truly world-class.

I’m asking you to support making this dream a reality by becoming a GPNEMBA member right now. Please select Greater Portland as your home chapter!

Thank you for helping to make a world-class mountain bike community in Greater Portland a reality.

Ryan Dunfee
President, Greater Portland NEMBA
