The biggest week of 2026 for Greater Portland MTB’ing starts this Sunday
Join us for Best Day Ever & then come rip!<!–
Hey team,
Unfortunately the 1.7″ of rain last night postponed our Grand Opening of the new Hung Down downhill trail in Lowell, which has been moved to Thursday (see details below). However, we were able to host a small but fierce and fun Pride Ride over the weekend (thanks Lou for guiding!) and are excited to see y’all at Allspeed tomorrow (Wednesday, details below) for a rad film premiere focused on our adaptive MTB buddies in Vermont.
Meanwhile, we’ve got new tailgate and helmet stickers exclusively for 2026 GPNEMBA members you can pick up soon at Gorham Bike & Ski, as well as at the Allspeed movie premiere tomorrow, our weekly group rides, and more locations to come! Just search “NEMBA Membership Card” in your email and show it to a GPNEMBA leader or Gorham Bike staff to pick up. If you’re not a member yet, you can always join here. We grew by over 100 new members in May and would love to have you join!
Join us tomorrow @ Allspeed & Thursday at Lowell!
Remember Max Southam from Mt. Abram building the new downhill trail in Lowell in the dead of winter, buried in snow this winter?? Thursday we’re finally dropping the rope on Mt. Abram’s latest & greatest…
Wednesday, June 24th @ 6:00 pm: Join us at Allspeed Cyclery for a film screening of the award-winning documentary about adaptive mountain biking, Best Day Ever. Best Day Ever follows the stories of adaptive mountain bikers Greg Durso and Allie Bianchi as they navigate the relentless challenges of their disabilities and embrace the tremendous support, friendship, and joy they find in their rural Vermont riding community. Allie and Greg navigate disability and regain independence with humor, attitude, and grit on mountain bike trails that dismantle ableism, build community, and become a blueprint for trails anywhere. You can RSVP to the event here.
The goal with this event is to raise money and awareness around adaptive sports and adaptive trail building. Bring cash or your card because we’re going to be raffling off some sweet prizes, all proceeds go straight to our good friends at Maine Adaptive. Allspeed will have tasty beverages available at no cost courtesy of Orono Brewing, and food available to purchase from the Sal De La Terra foodtruck.
Thursday, June 25th @ 5:30 pm: join us for a special guided group ride — this time at Lowell Preserve for the GRAND OPENING of the new Hung Down downhill trail & Stove Up climb trail loop, which we’ll be dropping the rope on for the first time during the ride. We’ll also tour the new Odyssey XC trail that just had a pile of work done on it by our volunteers & Gorham Bike & Ski last weekend. Did you see the clips of GPNEMBA volunteers ripping Hung Down in the recent promo we shot with the Hearts of Pine? That could be you this Thursday. This’ll also be your chance to get to know Lowell better, learn how to connect all the new trail we’ve built, and maybe learn how to connect it with East Windham & North Falmouth! Wheels roll at 5:40. Lowell is pretty technical by nature, but if you feel comfortable riding neighboring East Windham, you should feel comfortable riding Lowell. Hope you can join us!
Volunteer with Greater Portland NEMBA
Want to step up and contribute some sweat equity to build a world-class future for Greater Portland riding? Join us as a volunteer. We’re running three different trail crews this season in Gorham, Falmouth/Windham, and Portland, building and improving the trails you love every week.
A big thanks to the Gorham Bike & Ski team who supported our recent trailwork day in Lowell Preserve, where over 30 diggers (including many GBS employees) made a huge of big improvements on the new Odyssey trail to get it riding even more mintly. And thanks to Eric Bright for the rad pics! Don’t forget to stop by Gorham Bike Portland shop to pick up your 2026 member sticker and enjoy your 10% off as a GPNEMBA member!
